GiveN :

  • Density of block \sf{(\rho\ )=\ 0.88\ gcm^{-3}}
  • Volume of block \sf{(V\ =\ 60\ cm^3}

To FinD :

  • Mass of Block

SolutioN :

Use formula for density :

\longrightarrow \boxed{\sf{Density \: = \: \dfrac{Mass}{Volume}}} \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf{\rho \: = \: \dfrac{M}{V}} \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf{0.88 \: = \: \dfrac{M}{60}} \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf{M \: = \: 0.88 \: \times \: 60} \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf{M \: = \: 52.8} \\ \\ \underline{\underline{\sf{Mass\ of\ block\ is\ 52.8\ g}}}

Additional Information :

• Density is defined as mass per volume.

Density = Mass/Volume

• SI unit of Density is kg/m³

• Ratio of density of a material to density of water is called as Relative Density.

• If relative density of object is more than of water then it will sink, otherwise it will float on surface of water.

Given ,

  • Density of block = 0.88 g/cm³
  • Volume of block = 60 cm³

We know that ,

The density of body is defined as the mass per volume

  \large{\boxed{ \sf{Density =  \frac{mass}{volume}   }}}

The SI unit of density is Kg/m³

Thus ,

0.88 = mass/60

mass = 52.8 gram

  \sf \therefore{ \underline{The \:  mass \:  of \:  the \:  block \:  is  \: 52.8 \:  gram}}
