A block of mass 1 kg just remains in equilibrium with the vertical wall of a cart accelerating uniformly with 20 m/s2 as shown. The co-efficient of friction between block and wall is (g = 10 m/s2) (A) 0.1 (B) 0.2 (C) 0.5 (D) 1

Given :-

Mass of the block = 1 Kg

Acceleration of the cart = 20 ms-²

As we observe that Force is acting in the opposite of the acceleration of the cart.

Then according to this let the Force,

F = mg

Normal force acting on the body,

N = ma

As we know that Frictional Force,

F = μN

mg = μ × ma

g = μa

Let, g = 10 ms-²

10 = μ × 20

μ = 1/2

μ = 0.5

Hence,

The co-efficient of Friction = μ = 0.5
