A block of mass 10 kg is placed on a rough horizontal

surface having coefficient of friction = 0.5. If a

horizontal force of 100 N is acting on it, then

acceleration of the block will be

(a) 0.5 m/s2

(b) 5 m/s2

(c) 10 m/s2

Normal reaction = 100N

Friction force (F) = K * 0.5 = 0.5 * 100 = 50N

F = Ma

50 = 10 * a

a = 5 m/s2

a = 5 m/s2 is the direction of force
