The maximum value of force F we have to apply, so that the blocks move together is 35N

Explanation:

Given: A block of mass 2 kg is placed over 5 kg mass as shown. Coefficient of friction between all the surface is 0.5.

Find: Maximum value of force ‘F’ so that both the blocks move together.

Solution:

At bottom surface friction coefficient is 0.5

F = μN

N = (2+5)g = 17*10 = 70N

F =μN = 0.5 * 70 = 35N

So the maximum value of force F we have to apply, so that the blocks move together is 35N.
