Answer:

  • The pressure applied by the block on the table is 980 Pa.

Explanation:

Given that:

  • A block of mass 2 kg is placed over a table.
  • The block occupies an area of 200 cm² on the table.

To calculate:

  • The pressure applied by the block on the table.

Converting the area into m²:

  • [1 cm = 1/100 m]

200 cm²

= 200 × 1 cm × 1 cm

= 200 × 1/100 m × 1/100 m

= 200/(100 × 100) m²

= 1/50 m²

Formula used:

  • P = F/A
  • F = mg

Where,

  • P = Pressure
  • F = Force
  • A = Area = 1/50 m²
  • m = Mass = 2 kg
  • g = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s²

Finding the pressure applied by the block on the table:

⟿ Pressure = (2 × 9.8)/(1/50)

⟿ Pressure = (2 × 9.8 × 50)/1

⟿ Pressure = 980

∴ Pressure applied by the block on the table = 980 Pa

Given :-

A block of mass 2 kg is placed over a table. The block occupies an area of  200 cm2 on the table.

To Find :-

Pressure applied by the block on the  table

Solution :-

1 m = 100 m

200 cm = 200/100 × 100 = 200/10000 = 1/50 m²

First we need to find force applied

F = mg

F = (2)(9.8)

F = 19.6

Now

P = F/A

P = 19.6/1/50

P = 19.6/1 × 50

P = 19.6 × 50

P = 980 Pascal\\
