A block of mass 4 kg are placed in accelerating
cart as shown in the figure. If coefficient of static
friction and kinetic friction between the block an
cart surface are 0.4 and 0.3 respectively. Then
acceleration of block w.r.t. cart will be (g = 10
m/s2)​

Let get inside cart .

Cart will be stationary , and there will be a pseudo force equal to ma = 4× 3 = 12 N on block in opposite side .

Now how much maximum static friction surface can apply on block , that will be

u(static) N = 0.4 × 40 = 16 N

Since external force is less then friction block will be stationary
