a block of mass 4 kg is placed on another block of mass 6kg and lower block is pulled by a constant force of 40 N. the coefficient of the friction between the blocks is 0.5 but there is no friction between lower block and the surface below it. find acceleration of each block.

Answer:

Explanation:

take both as a system

acceleration of system =  F/10

frictional force acting on between 4 and 6 kg block = 6f/10

assume friction to be static

3f/5< or equal to 0.5(40)

3f/10 < or equal to 20

Fmax such that block moves together = 200/3=66.7

here in question you can see in question it is given less than 66.7

so both blocks moves together

acceleration of the system = 40/10 = 4m/sec^2
