contact force=2.m.g

Explanation:

Given, the mass of block = m

Since, the block is placed on the ground, so the force applied on the block because of force due to gravity is m.g

Since we are applying additional force, F = mg

As shown in fig. the force due to gravity and and additional force is in the same direction.

So, the net contact force = force due to gravity + additional contact force

                                          = m.g + m.g

                                          =2.m.g    

so, the net contact force on block= 2.m.g
