weight of block under normal conditions = mg

weight in elevator with acceleration = m(g-a)

now according to question

m(g-a) = 1/4mg

g-a = 1/4g

g- 1/4g = a

a = 3/4 g

or a = 3/4 × 9.8 m/sec sq

((g =9.8 m/sec sq constant))

a = 7.35 m/sec2
