Answer:

2.5 m/s is the only answer

Explanation:

  • The water jet striking the block at the rate of 1kg/s (dm/dt) at a speed of 5m/s (v) will exert a force on the blank,

(W.K.T.) F = v × (dm/dt)

             F = 5 × 1

             F = 5 N

  • Under the action of this force of 5N , the block of mass 2kg will move with an acceleration given by,

(W.K.T.) F = ma

        ⇒ a = F/m = 5/2 = 2.5 m/s²

  • Hence the initial acceleration of the block will be 2.5 m/s²

Thank me if u got it and if not DM me
