A block of weight 100 N and dimensions 5 m x 3 m x 10 m rests on a table in two different positions with its area as a) 5 m x 3 m (b) 3 m x 10 m . i) Calculate the pressure exerted in each case and ii) find in which position the block exerts greater pressure on the table.​

Answer:

i) a) Pressure = Thrust/ Area

=> 100 N/ 15 m²

=> 6.67 Pa

b) Pressure = 100 N/ 30 m²

=> 3.33 Pa

ii) 6.67 > 3.33

So, the block exerts greater pressure in case a)
