Volume of the cubical block = (4km)³ = 216 km³ = 216*10¹⁵ cm³

Volume of rectangular piece = 20cm*10cm*5cm = 1000 cm³

No. of rectangular pieces = 216*10¹⁵ cm³ ÷ 10³ cm³ = 216*10¹²

Hence, 216*10¹² rectangular pieces of wood can be cut

Step-by-step explanation:

Question :-

13. A block of wood is in form a cube its edge is

4 km. How many rectangular piece of

( dimension 10 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm be cut

from the block?

Solution :

Given :-

  • Cube edge :- 4 km.
  • Rectangular piece of dimension :- 10 cm x 20 cm x 5 cm.

★ We know that if 4 m is edge , so it have all sides 4 cm.

Volume of cube = a³

Here given , 4 km

But we have to convert first into cm.

We know ,

1 \: km = 100000 \: cm

So, 4 km =

4 \: km = 100000 \times 4

 = 400000 \: cm

•° So , volume of cube

 = 400000 \times  400000 \times  400000

• Now , Volume of rectangular piece

 = 20 \times 10 \times 5

→ Numbers of block :

 \frac{400000 \times 400000 \times 400000}{20 \times 10 \times 5}

Cut of zeros .

 \frac{400000 \times400000 \times4000  }{2 \times 1 \times 5}

Now , cut off 40000 by 5 to get 80,000

And then , cut of 80,000 by 2 to get 40,000

•° We have ,

16000000

Answer : 16,00000 blocks can be cut from it.
