i. Name the solution ‘X’

ii. Name the type of reaction involved when an Iron nail is added to X

iii. What happens when a Silver metal piece is added to X

Answer:

i) copper sulphate (CuSO4)

ii) Displacement reaction

iii) No reaction will take place because silver is less reactive than copper. So, it will not displace copper from its salt solution.

Hope it helped you.....

(i)X is Copper Sulphate(CuSO₄)

The colour of the metallic salt solution is blue. So ‘X’ will be Copper Sulphate(CuSO₄)

(ii) Displacement reaction

When an iron nail is added to the Copper Sulphate solution, Iron displaces Copper from copper sulphate solution. The reaction involved is given below

     Fe^{+2}+CuSO_4\longrightarrow Cu^{+2}+FeSO_4

 (iii) No reaction

When a silver metal piece is added to the beaker containing Copper Sulphate solution, no reaction takes place because silver is less reactive than copper
