hey
let the speed of the stream be x . The total distance travelled is fixed ( say x ) .
Speed when going upstream = 5 + x
Speed when going downstream = 5 - x
Distance = Speed * Time
so, 5.25 / 5 + x + 1 = 5.25 / 5 - x
5.25 ( 5 + x - 5 + x ) = ( 25 - x^2 )
10.5x = 25 - x^2
x^2 + 10.5x - 25 = 0
( x - 2 ) ( x + 12.5 ) = 0
x = 2 ..
