A boat carrying a number of large stones is floating in a big water tank. if the stones are unloaded into the water, then what is the effect on the level of water in the tank?

Actually the water level will remain unchanged practically for mere stones is relatively too small compared to a lake.

But by the principle of buoyancy if a body is submerged in a liquid then it displaces an amount of water from its space occupied equal to it's volume. 

Therefore the sum total of the height of the stones should be the rise in level of lake in ideal case.
