∴ x + y = 4.8860 = 4.8×608

=> x + y = 36 ....(i)

and , x - y = 4.8960 = 4.8×609

=> x - y = 32 ...(ii)

By equation (i) - (ii),

x + y - x + y = 36 - 32 = 4

=> 2y = 4 => y = 42 = 2 kmph
