3.Speed adds up when going downstream and vice versa.

Distance covered by boat downstream= S×T=(8+x)×3

Distance covered by boat upstream=S×T=(8-x)×4

(8+x)×3=(8-x)×4

24+3x=32-4x

3x+4x=32-24=8

x=8/7km/hr
