A boat covers some distance downstream in 6 hour while it covers the same distance upstream in 9 hours. if the speed of boat in still water is 8km/hr find the speed of stream.​

In downstream time =6 hour

In upstream time =9 hour

speed of boat in still water =8 km/hr

downstream speed of boat =(x+8) km/hr

upstream speed of boat =(x-8)km/hr

D=S×T

distance of downstream =(x+8)km/hr × 6hr= 6x+48 km

distance of upstream =(x-8)km/hr × 9hr= 9x-72km

according to question=Distance of boat in downstream=Distance of boat in upstream

6x+48=9x-72

48+72=9x-6x

3x=120

x=120÷3

x=40km/hr.
