Let the man's rate be x kmph and that of water be y kmph.
then upstream speed= x-y kmph
downward speed= x+y kmph
Then, distance covered upstream in 8 hrs 48 min = Distance covered downstream in 4 hrs.
8 hrs 48min= 44/5 hours.
hence (x-y)44/5=(x+y)4
(x+y)/(x-y)= 11/5
here we get two new x+y=11
x-y= 5
solving these we get x=8kmph and y=3kmph
si ratio will be x/y= 8/3=8:3
