Step-by-step explanation:

Given

A boat starts with the speed of 1 km per hour. After every 1 km, the speed of boat becomes twice. How much will be average speed of the boat  becomes twice.  How much will be average speed of the boat at the end of journey of 2.5 km?

  • Given Time will decrease as speed of the boat increases.
  • Speed = distance / time
  • Time = distance / speed
  • Now 1 km speed will be 1 km /hr
  • So t1 = 1 km / 1km / hr
  • So t1 = 1 hr
  • Now t2 = 1km / 2 km / hr (twice the previous speed for every 1 hr)
  • Or t2 = 1/2 hr
  • So t3 = 0.5 / 4 km / hr
  • Or t3 = 1/8 hr
  • Now total time will be t = 1 + 1/2 + 1/8
  • Or t = 13 /8
  •      = 1.625
  • Average speed = total distance / total time
  •                        = 2.5 km / 1.625 hr
  •                       = 1.538 km / hr
