Given :-

Time taken by the boat = 8 min 15 sec

Number of crossings in a day = 15 crossings

To Find :-

For how long did it travel throughout the day.

Analysis :-

Firstly find the time taken in one travel by substituting the given values from the question using it's respective formula.

In order to find for how long did it travel throughout the day multiply time taken in one travel and number of crossing.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • t = Time
  • d = Distance
  • s = Speed

Using the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Time \ taken \ in \ each \ travel=Time \times Crossing}}

Given that,

Time (t) = 8 min 15 sec = 495 sec

Crossing = 15

Substituting their values,

⇒ 495 × 15

⇒ 7425 sec

According to the question,

\underline{\boxed{\sf  Time \ travelled \ each \ day=Total \ time \times Crossing }}

Given that,

Time (t) = 7425 sec

Crossing = 15

Substituting their values,

⇒ 7425 × 15

⇒ 111375 sec = 123 min 45 sec

⇒ 2 hour, 3 min, 45 sec

Therefore, the boat travels 2 hour, 3 min, 45 sec throughout the day.

~ Finding time taken in each crossings

~ But let's firstly convert 8 min 15 sec into seconds

☃ Converting 8 min 15 sec into seconds

➨ 1 minute = 60 seconds.

➨ Hence, 8 min = 8 × 60 seconds

➨ So, 480 seconds

➨ Now, 480 sec + 15 sec

➨ 495 seconds

~ Now finding time taken in each crossings

➨ Time × Crossings

➨ 495 × 15

➨ 7425 seconds

~ Now let's find the time travel in each day

➨ Total time × Crossings

➨ 7425 × 15

➨ 11375 seconds

➨ And we know that 11375 seconds are equal to 2 hrs 3 min 45 seconds
