pe = mgh \\ h = 10 - 5 = 5  \\ pe = 4 \times 10 \times 5 = 200

Question:

A body of mass 4kg is taken from a height of 5m to a height of 10m. Find the increase in potential energy.

Given:

Mass = 4 kg

initial Height = 5 m

Final Height = 10 m

To Find:

Increase in Potential Energy.

Formula:

PE = mgh

where,

m = mass

g = acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s^{2}

h = height

Solution:

Difference in Height = 10 - 5 m

                                  = 5 m

Increase in Potential Energy = m x g x h

                                                = 4 x 9.8 x 5

                                                = 196 Joule
