Hello !
This because when we put something on liquid the molecules start losing their original place and so to not to give their place to the foreign object( any body or object which is immersed)  they start resisting that body and they apply a force on that object and finally the object loses its gravitational force acyting on it by earth because of the force acting on the body by the molecules , and as the force applied by the molecules  opposes its weight so the body loses its weight.
Let us take an example , Suppose u r standing somewhere and your friend comes and pushes u ,u then apply a force opposite to him so that u do not fall down or u do not lose ur place.
This example is as similar to the liquid phenomena.
Every object in this Universe tends to be there in its place it is and tries to be stable.
I hope u understand!
Thank you !
