Velocity = displacement / time

Speed = distance / time

Displacement can be 0, since if the body returns to its initial position it's displacement will be 0.

But distance can never be 0.

Therefore, Average Velocity can be 0 but not Average Speed.

Answer:

Explanation:

Average speed is the ratio of total distance by TOTAL time taken. As average velocity depends on displacement and displacement can be zero if the object returns to initial position . ...

Whereas displacement is zero as source and destination is same. Hence A body can have zero average velocity but not zero average speed
