Given:

a body can throw a stone up to a maximum height of 10m

To Find:

The max horizontal distance that the boy can throw the same stone up to.

Solution:

Let Ф be the angle of projection of the stone .

Let U be the initial velocity.

Then maximum height is given by,

  • H = (UsinФ)²/2g
  • This height is maximum at Ф = 45°.
  • H =10 = U²/2x2g
  • U² = 40g --(a)

Maximum horizontal distance is known as Range.

  • Range is given by,
  • R = U²sin2Ф/g
  • Ф = 45° ⇒ 2Ф = 90°
  • R = U²/g = 40g/g = 40m

Maximum horizontal distance that the boy can throw the same stone up to will be 40m.

Answer:20m

Explanation:

u=√2gh

=√2*10*10

=√200

R=u^2/g

=200/10

= 20

Therefore, maximum horizontal distance is 20m.
