A body covers 1/3 of its journey with speed 20m/s next 1/3 of with speed 30m/s with what speed should cover the remaining part of journey so that entire average speed is 40m/s.

Distance = x mtrs
time takes is (x/2 /20) + (x/2 /30)
= x/40 + x/60 sec
= (3x/120 + 2x/120) sec
= 5x/120 seconds
|velocity| = speed = dist (x) / time (5x/120)
= 1m/(5/120)sec
=120/5 m/sec
= 24 m/s
