A body covers 1/3rd of distance with velocity 20m/s ,the second 1/3rd with velocity of30m/s and last 1/3rd with velocity of 40m/s. what is average velocity?

Total distance be x.

So

X/3 with 20 m/s should take t 1=(X/3)/20. ( distance upon speed).

Similarly.

X/3 with 30 m/s should take t2=(X/3)/30.

X/3 with 40 m/s should take t3=(X/3)/40.

Now average velocity

(total displacement) /( total time taken)

Hence X/(t1+t2+t3) = 27.69 m/s
