Question:

A body covers 40 km in two hours and next 60 km in three hours. what is the average speed of the body.

Given:

The body covers first 40km in 2 hrs and the next 60km in 3hrs.

Solution:

We know that  \bigg\{Average~speed= \frac{Total Distance} {Total ~time} \bigg \}

Total Distance= (40+60)km =100km

Total Time= (2+3)hrs= 5hrs

 \tt Average~speed= \frac{Total Distance} {Total ~time} \\\\ \tt Average~speed= \frac{100}{5} \\\\ \tt \implies 20km/hr
