QUESTION ⤵️
A body describes 20m in the 2 th second and 40m in the 4 th second. If the motion is uniformly accelerated, how far will it go in the next 5 seconds?
ANSWER ⤵️
distance travelled by uniformly accelerated body in nth s is given by....
Sn = u+1/2a(2n-1)
here, a is acceleration
u is initial velocity
Sn= 20s at n=2
✔️20= u+3a/2.............eq(1.)
Sn = 40s at n= 4
✔️40= u+ 7a/2............…...eq(2.)
solving (1.) and (2.) we get,
a= 10 m/sec^2
u= 5m/s
now we have to find velocity at t= 5 seconds
v=u+at
v= 55m/sec
and distance travelled is
S= ut+1/2at^2
S=150m
