A body has an average speed of 30 m/s. If its final speed is 40 m/s, did the body start from rest or motion? if it started from motion what was its initial speed?

ANSWER →

As we know that,

\rm{Average\ speed=\dfrac{Initial\ speed+Final\ speed}{2} }

  • Average speed = 30 m/s
  • Final speed = 40 m/s

Putting the values, we get :-

\rm{30=\dfrac{Initial\ speed+40}{2} }\\\\\rm{\implies Initial\ speed+40=60}\\\\\bigstar\ \rm{\implies Initial\ speed=20\ m/s}

Hence, the initial speed of the body is 20 m/s.

As the initial speed is not 0, so the body started from motion.

\rule{180}{1.7}

Hope this helps :)
