a body gets immersed in water or any other liquid it appears lighter because of Bouancy force which is acting on the object.

For example :

we have a bucket filled with water then we have to take a mug and put into the bucket of water.

Then if we push the mug it will gets sink. But we leave the or do not apply force o it . It will float because the Bouancy force is acting on the mug from the bottom of the bucket . It also feels lighter. Only because of this Bouancy force .

Bouancy : Bouancy or Upthrust is an upward force exerted by a fluid that opposes the weight of an object
