A body is made in the form of wedge with an angle 45°. See figure. A ball of mass m, moving horizontally at a speed v = √2 m/s , collides with the wedge of mass M = 2m. As a result of the impact, the ball bounces vertically upward. Neglect the friction between the wedge and horizontal surface. The
speed of the ball just after the impact is

According to conservation of momentum,

M1V1+ M2V2= MV

M√2+2m√2 sin45= mv

V=2+ √2m/sec
