When a body is projected upwards at an angle α with a velocity v then the horizontal velocity vcosα remains the same throughout the motion but the vertical velocity vsinα changes with an acceleration provided by the gravitational force.

Here the motion is a two dimensional one since the path of the trajectory is a parabola.

But acceleration of the motion is one dimensional since it always acts downwards.
