a body is moving in a straight line with initial velocity 12 m/s and initial retardation 4 m/ s ^2 its retardation decreases to zero linearly in time 't' .what is the value of time ' t' ( in sec ) if the body will completley stop moving at this time?

Answer:

Explanation:the distance covered by the body in 5th second = u+a ( n-1/2)= 7+ 4 (5-1/2)

= 7+4×9/2

= 7+ 18 = 25 m

Concept:

According to the Second law of motion,

v = u + at

where v and u are the initial and final velocity of the body and a is the acceleration of the body.

Given:

The initial velocity, u = 12 m/s

Acceleration, a = - 4 m/s² (As retardation is given)

Find:

The time at which the body will completely stop.

Solution:

As the body will completely stop, the velocity of the body becomes zero.

Substituting the values in the second law of motion,

v = u + at

0 = 12 - 4t

4t = 12

t = 12/4 = 3 sec

Hence, the body will completely stop moving after 3 seconds.
