Displacement is the shortest distance travelled from the initial point to the final point. After half revolution the displacement is the length of the diameter which is equal to 2r. Hence the displacement is 2r.

The displacement is zero as it reaches the same point after travelling.

To explain this point, I would have to go in details.

  • Now, what is displacement?

Displacement is defined as the change in position of an object. It is a vector quantity and has a direction and magnitude. It is represented as an arrow that points from the starting position to the final position. For example- If an object moves from A position to B, then the object’s position changes. This change in position of an object is known as Displacement.

  • And what is zero displacement?

Unlike distance, which can only get larger on any path taken, displacement can be positive, negative, or zero. Displacement is zero when you start and end at the same spot.

Therefore we can hence conclude that the displacement is zero.
