a body is moving on a straight line along the x-axis. it's distance from the origin is given by the equation x=5t -t^2 where x is in m and y is in t.find the average speed of the body in the time interval t=0and t=2s and find the instantaneous speed at t=2s.

Answer:

average speed = 3 m/s

instantaneous speed = 1 m/s

Explanation:

for avg. speed

putting t =0

x = 0

putting t = 2

x = 6

average speed = final position - initial position / total time

                          = 6 - 0/2

                          = 3m/s

for instantaneous speed

differentiate the equation

dx/dt = 5t - t²

         =5 - 2t

now put t =2 in the above equation

instantaneous speed = 1 m/s

hope this helped
