QUESTION-:

A body is moving with a velocity of 40m/s and suddenly decreases its velocity to 20m/s in total time interval of 1hr caculate its acceleration

EXPLANATION-:

Given-:

  • Initial velocity(u), 40 m/s
  • Final velocity(v), 20 m/s
  • Time(t), 3600 s  [∵1 hour=3600 sec]
  • Acceleration(a), ?                             [To be calculated]

We know that-:

\longrightarrow \boxed{\underline{\sf \ddag\; \sf a=\frac{v-u}{t}\; \ddag }}

Putting values we have-:

\rightarrow \bf\; a=\frac{20-40}{3600}\\\\\rightarrow \bf\; a=\frac{-20}{3600}\\\\\longrightarrow \underline{\boxed{\sf a=0.005556\;m/s^2 }}

Acceleration of the body is 0.00556 m/s² [APPROX]
