Answer:

When a velocity is changing as a result of a constant acceleration, the average velocity can be found by adding the initial and final velocities, and dividing by 2. The unit for velocity is meters per second (m/s). Note that this formula applies for constant acceleration only.

Given:-

  • Initial velocity (u) = 5m/s

  • Final velocity (v) = 8m/s

  • Time time (t) = 3 s

To Find:-

  • Acceleration of the body (a)

Solution:-

By using 1st equation of motion we get

v = u+at

Substitute the value we get

→ 8 = 5 +a×3

→ 8-5 = a×3

→ 3 = a×3

→ a = 3/3

→ a = 1m/s²

The acceleration of the body is 1m/

Additional Concept !!

The rate of change of velocity at per unit time is called acceleration .

✧ SI unit of acceleration is m/.

✧ It is vector Quantity ( both magnitude and direction)
