A body is projected horizontally from the top of a tower with initial velocity 18 m/s.It hits the ground at angle 45.What is the vertical component of velocity when it strikes the ground

u(x) - 18 m/s 

let the body strikes with v m/s 

as given it strikes at 45 

so we can write 
v cos 45  = 18 

v = 18 /cos45 

so vertical component will be v sin 45 

hence v sin 45 = ( 18/cos45 ) sin45 

Thus the vertical component of velocity = 18 m/s
