When a body is projected upwards, its speed initially decreases due to the acceleration due to gravity in downward direction. At maximum height reached, the speed of the body becomes zero and after that it starts to move in downward direction. When a body is projected vertically up from ground, its velocity is reduced to 1/3 rd of initial velocity at height 'y' above the ground. Then maximum height reached by the body is. BSEB Inter exam date sheet 2021 revised schedule released. Thus maximum height attained becomes four times (4H) when the initial velocity is increased by 2 times.  Thus at maximum height, the acceleration of the body is non-zero but its velocity is zero.
