[tex]Let initial velocity be u and final velocity be v. We know that, v^{2}-u^{2}=2as Velocity will be zero at topmost point, so v=0. Acceleration is due to gravity, so a=-g ( as is acts downwards) Let h be the maximum height. So, -u^{2}=-2gh u^{2}=2gh h=u^{2}/2g [/tex]
