Given:

Initial velocity,u = 30m/s

Final velocity,v = 0 m/s

acceleration = 9.8m/s

When a body is thrown vertically upwards,its velocity is decreasing, so the acceleration due to gravity ,g, is taken negative. So-

acceleration = -9.8m/s

To Find :

Time taken to reach back to the ground

Formula:

v=u+at

where,

v is final velocity

u is initial velocity

t is the time

0= 30- 9.8 ×t

0 = 30- 9.8t

9.8t = 30

t = 30/9.8

t = 3.06sec

time taken to reach the height = time taken to come to come back on ground

time taken to reach the height = time taken to come to come back on ground total time = 3.06 +3.06 =6.12 sec
