Position of body after 1.5 sec = 48.75 m

Position of body after 3 sec = 75 m

velocity of body after 3 sec = 10 m/s

Explanation:

  • Whenever a body is thrown vertically upward it moves against the gravitational force or acceleration due to gravity.
  • In upward motion acceleration due to gravity is taken as negative

                 a = -g

Given, initial velocity of body = 40 ms⁻¹

time = 1.5 sec and 3 sec

we can calculate the position by using following equation of motion

=> s = u t+ \frac{1}{2} at²

After 1.5 sec

=> s = 40 * 1.5 + \frac{1}{2} (-10) (1.5)²

=> s = 60 - 11.25

=> s = 48.75 m Position of particle after 1.5 sec

After 3 sec

=> s = 40* 3 +\frac{1}{2} (-10) (3)²

=> s = 120 - 45

=> s = 75 m      Position of particle after 3 sec

Velocity of particle can be calculated by v= u+at

=> v = 40 + (-10) 3

=> v= 40 -30

=> v = 10 ms⁻¹
