Answer

Displacement:-8m

Distance:-12m

Explanation:

Displacement:-

Δ------------10m----------->

I____8m____I<--2m--Δ

So if "Δ" is the object that is moving then 8m  is the  displacement covered. (∵path is mentioned same).

So,

10m→ and 2m← in the same path.

10m - 2m = 8m.

Let me make it easy for you!

You start walking from your house to the shop which is 8m distance.

But you go to the Ice cream shop which is 10m away.(in the same path)

Then you go to the shop to buy somethings.(it means you retruned in the same direction)

So the distance you covered is:-

          ⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒10m⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⊕

                                                        ⊕ ←←←←←2m←←←←←←

House__________________Shop__________Ice Cream Shop.

So, 10-2=8m.

Distance:-

10m + 2m = 12m.

Hope it is clear for you!

Thank you for raising this doubt!
