A body moves 80m towards east then 60m towards west along the same path . Find distance and displacement.​

Answer:

As distance is the total path covered so 60+80 =140 m

Displacement is the shortest possible distance so if you will draw a vector diagram for it you can easily find it as

Disp. = √(60)^2 + (80)^2 = 100 m

See When An object moon's diameter east and then 60 metre towards west then Displacement would be the shortest distance from starting point which will be equal to 80 - 60 is equal to 20..

now talking of distancetotal distance would be equal to 80 + 60 that equals 140...
