average acceleration= change in velocity/ total elapsed time
avg acceleration= 4-3/2+3
=> 1/5=0.2 m/s2

Lokesh00: Rajaniras it seems that u havent read the question correctly. The values 4 and 3 are in terms of acceleration not velocity. Your answer is wrong.

For 1st case
v₁ = u + at
v₁ = u + 6

For 2nd case
v = u + at
v₂ = v₁ + 12
v₂ = u + 6 + 12
v₂ - u = 18

Average acceleration = (v₂ - u)/(t₁ + t₂)
= 18 / 6 = 3 m/s²
