Answer:

Explanation:

When a body moves from A to B then

Distance covered = 30km

when body moves from B to A then

Distance covered = 30km

Total distance covered = 30+30 = 60km

Displacement = zero (0)

because body came to the initial point

Concept :

In this problem we have two concept , first concept is of distance and second concept is of displacement. Distance has magnitude only on the other hand displacement has magnitude as well as direction.

Given:

We have two points i.e. A and B and the distance between these two points is 30km.

Find:

We have to find the total distance and total displacement covered by the body.

Solution:

Total distance = Distance from A to B + Distance from B to A

                         = 30 + 30

                         = 60 km

Displacement = 0

As we know that displacement consists of magnitude as well as direction. Here in this first we move from A to B then we again move from B to A that means we again reach the same point and that shows the displacement is zero.

Hence, total distance is 60km and displacement is 0.
