Let the distance be 2d.
Let the time be t.
Case1:
Distance¹=1/2×2d=d
Speed¹=10km/h
:.time¹=distance¹/speed¹
=D/10
Case2:
Distance²=1/2×2d=d
Speed²=15km/h
:.time²=distance²/speed²
=D/15
Now,
Total distance=2d
Total time=d/10+d/15=(15d+10d)/(15×10)
=25d/150
:. average Speed=total distance/total time
=2d/25d/150
=2d×150/25d
=300d/25d
=12km/h
