A body moving in a straight line covers a certain distance in a way such that 1/5th of time is covered with speed V1 and in the remaining time, 3/4th of remaining distance is covered with speed V2 and 1/4th of remaining distance is covered with speed V3. Find average speed over the entire journey.

Answer:

Average speed=total time takentotal distance covered

At the total distance=3x

Time taken to cover first one third(x)

=t1=v1x

Time taken to cover second one third=t2=v2x

Time taken to cover 3rd one third=t3=v3x

Average speed=v1x+v2x+v3x3x=v11+v21+v313.
