Answer:

Let, initial velocity be - u m/s

& acceleration - a m/s²

distance travelled in t = 1sec = 3m

s = ut + 1/2 at²

3 = u(1) + 1/2 a(1)²

3 = u + 1/2 a ----------(1)

distance travelled in 2 seconds = 8m

8 = u(2) + 1/2 a(2)²

8 = 2u + 2a

8 = 2( u + a)

4 = u+ a

u = 4 - a ----------(2)

Now putting (2) in (1)

3 = u + 1/2 a

3 = (4 - a) + 1/2a

3 = 4 - a/2

a/2 = 4 - 3

a/2 = 1

a = 2 m/s²

& u = 4 - 2 = 2m/s

Hope it helps....
